The Lakers seem to have completely ditched their cursed City edition jerseys
After starting the season with putrid record in their City edition jerseys, the Lakers seem to have completely abandoned wearing them.
Whether or not you believe in curses, it was hard to argue something wasn’t going on with the Lakers and their City Edition jerseys.
Through January, the Lakers wore the special jerseys that donned “Lake Show” across the chest 10 times. They had a whopping nine losses in those contests.
Everyone took notice on social media, pleading with the team to ditch the unis. Eventually, the Lakers noticed.
So, they kicked off February by ditching the jerseys for their game in Madison Square Garden on Saturday. The result? A victory.
Again, the Lakers seemed to take notice because, amidst all of the madness over the last week, they again were scheduled to wear their City Edition jerseys against the Warriors and, again, ditched them. And wouldn’t you know it, they won again!
For those keeping track then, the Lakers are now 1-9 when wearing their City Edition jerseys and 29-10 in every other game this season.
The question now is, can a team just refuse to wear a jersey the rest of the season? The Lakers are scheduled to wear them six more times, but not again the end of the month against the Wolves. Here are the remaining times they’re set to wear the jerseys:
- Feb. 27, vs. MIN
- March 6, vs. NYK
- March 26, at IND
- March 31, vs. HOU
- April 3, vs. GSW
- April 9, at DAL
What is abundantly clear is there is no way the Lakers can go into Dallas for Luka’s revenge game wearing those jerseys. There needs to be zero bad vibes from LA in that one. Let Luka’s seething hatred of Dallas’ front office be the only energy in that one.
