Warriors vs. Magic injury report
The complete injury report for Monday’s game between Golden State and Orlando.
It’s been an absolute whirlwind in the NBA the last few days. The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers swapped Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis in perhaps the most shocking trade in league history. Golden State Warriors rival De’Aaron Fox saw his wish fulfilled and was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, while Warriors target Zach LaVine got sent from the Chicago Bulls to the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors started and stopped a push for Jimmy Butler, have made it clear that they want to make a splash, and apparently set their sights on trading for both LeBron James and Kevin Durant. And with the trade deadline still three days away, it seems like things aren’t going to slow down anytime soon.
And yet there’s still basketball to play. Amidst the madness, the Warriors host the Orlando Magic tonight, in their last home game until February 23 (other than the All-Star Game). And there’s good news, as the Warriors are — thankfully — getting healthier.
Here’s the full injury report ahead of tonight’s game, which is at 7:00 p.m. PT.
Warriors
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)
Nothing has changed with Kuminga, who is likely out until after the All-Star break. The only question is whether his return to the court will be with the Warriors, or with another team. Golden State rightfully seems very hesitant to trade Kuminga, but it’s hard to envision the trade for an All-Star that they so clearly covet occurring without saying goodbye to Kuminga.
Probable — Draymond Green (left calf strain)
Draymond is, thankfully (probably) back. He’s played just three minutes of action since January 9, as a back injury and illness sidelined him for three games, and a calf injury sustained in his return has kept him out for the last seven contests. How nice it will be to have him back.
Probable — Buddy Hield (illness)
Hield has really been struggling to shoot lately, but his energy, effort, and passing have been vital for the Dubs. Hopefully he’s feeling okay.
Magic
Out — Mo Wagner (left knee torn ACL)
The older of the Magic’s Wagner brothers may not have the star power of his little bro, but he’s been having perhaps the best season of his career, averaging career-highs of 12.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 36.0% from three-point range. Unfortunately, a torn ACL ended his season in late December.
Doubtful — Jalen Suggs (left quad contusion)
Suggs, who was taken two picks ahead of Kuminga in the 2021 NBA Draft, has also been having arguably the best year of his career, with 16.2 points per game, easily the best in his four-year career, though he’s been struggling to shoot. He’s also been struggling with injuries, as he’s only played once in the last month.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
