ACC Roundup - Wake vs. Pitt Should Be The Best Game Outside Of The 15-501 Corridor

Another busy Saturday in store

In Saturday’s ACC Action, Pitt visits Wake Forest, Clemson is at NC State, Florida State goes to Boston College, Louisville jets down to Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Virginia tangle in Charlottesville, Stanford takes on SMU, Notre Dame gets some sun in Miami and Syracuse is jet lagging it at Cal.

Pitt and Wake should be fun. We’d give Wake a slight edge since it’s at home. Guard play should be fun in this one. Pitt has won two in a row and if you look at the next stretch of their schedule, they could rip off a solid win streak.

Clemson should take State in Raleigh. The Tigers are no worse than the third best team in the ACC and are just as good defensively and better offensively. Despite their hot shooting at Duke, the Wolfpack is erratic offensively, so we’ll take Clemson. The Tigers have won five straight too.

Stranger things have happened, but we just can’t see Georgia Tech beating Louisville right now. The Cardinals have developed a real swagger and Tech, while gritty, is just too thin due to injuries.

Florida State was oddly apathetic against Virginia Tech and if they do that against BC, the Eagles will outhustle them. FSU’s weak effort against the Hokies was not really talked about much, but it should be. What happened there? Red Panda’s in the house!

Last year we would have automatically taken Virginia over Virginia Tech. This year? Hard to say. Neither one is playing all that well, but the Cavaliers have the home court advantage. Even so, we’d still call it a toss-up.

Stanford at SMU is interesting. Best ACC fact of the year: Stanford’s big man Maxine Raynaud started as a walk-on and now he’s on the NBA’s radar. How cool is that?

We’re not 100 percent sold on Stanford here, but in for a dime, in for a dollar.

Notre Dame should roll over Miami. The ‘Canes don’t defend and if you let the Irish get rolling, they’ll just gun you down.

Finally, we can’t make a strong argument for Syracuse and the long trip works against them. So we’ll have to take the Bears there. It should be close though.
