No surprises here!

After a one-year hiatus, Steph Curry is right back where he belongs: an All-Star starter. The face of the Golden State Warriors franchise was an All-Star a year ago but, for the first time in his career, was chosen as a reserve. But things are back to normal this year, as Curry’s name was announced on Thursday when the 2025 NBA All-Star starters were unveiled on TNT.

It’s very fitting that Curry is an All-Star this year, as the game will take place at the Chase Center in San Francisco — an arena made possible in large part because of the successes and revenue that Curry brought to the organization. It would have been a shame if Curry wasn’t a starter in the only All-Star Game the Warriors will host in his career.

With that said, the label “All-Star starter” is really just an accolade this year, though one could make the case that’s all the All-Star Game is these days. The NBA is trying a new format for the game this year; rather than two teams of 12 players, it’s a tournament consisting of four eight-player teams. The five starters and seven reserves from each conference will be drafted onto three teams by “general managers” Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith, with the winner of the Rising Stars game (managed by Candace Parker) serving as the fourth team. So while 10 players earn the title of “starter,” there will actually be 15 players who get to start.

With the distinction (which is chosen by the fans, who get 50% of the vote, the players, who get 25%, and the media, who also get 25%), Curry becomes the 32nd player in NBA history to be selected to at least 11 All-Star Games.

The other nine starters for the game, which takes place on Sunday, February 16 are: LeBron James (21st selection), Kevin Durant (15th selection), Giannis Antetokounmpo (9th selection), Nikola Jokić (7th selection), Donovan Mitchell (6th selection), Jayson Tatum (6th selection), Karl-Anthony Towns (5th selection), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (3rd selection), and Jalen Brunson (2nd selection).
