Bad Luck For Duke - Maliq Brown Injured
And he probably won’t be back any time soon either.
In many ways, this has been a magical season for Duke Basketball so far. Jon Scheyer completely rebuilt the team after almost everyone transferred last season and actually made it far, far better. That’s no small accomplishment.
One of the more interesting additions has been Maliq Brown, who has developed a killer niche off the bench: he comes in for Khaman Mulch and not only is he an experienced upperclassman who helps to steady a young team, he’s an unusually gifted defender.
He just gets to the ball, sometimes in ways that seem highly unlikely.
Unfortunately, he injured his knee against Notre Dame Saturday and according to Jon Scheyer, he’ll be out for some time.
That’s a tough break for the team, but it’s good news for freshman Patrick Ngongbo, who gets a chance to prove himself. He has shown some real craftiness around the basket and a nice passing instinct.
That said, Brown has cut out such a cool niche that we hope he’s back soon.
