Bad News: Jared McCain Out “Indefinitely” With An Injury
Awful news for the rook and the 76ers too.
Bad news for former Duke star Jared McCain, who has been having a tremendous rookie year: he’s out indefinitely with a knee injury.
McCain has a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. According to The Sporting News, the recover time depends on what surgery is performed:
“The amount of time McCain misses will depend on the type of surgery he underwent. McCain either underwent meniscal repair or a partial meniscectomy.
“As outlined by medical expert Dr. Michael S. George of the KSF Orthopedic Center in Houston, recovery time from a meniscus repair is four to six months. After a partial meniscectomy, the patient can walk without crutches immediately and return to the court in four to six weeks.”
It’s bound to be a major disappointment for McCain, who was the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, but at least he’ll be back.
The silver lining for Philly is that with so many injuries (Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey are all out as well), they stand a good shot at moving up in the draft order and won’t have to tank to get a good shot at Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey.
