YouTube Gold: Jim Brown
Still perhaps the definitive NFL running back
Jim Brown was a phenomenal athlete. Born on St. Simons Island in Georgia in 1932, Brown and his family moved to New York when he was eight. He attended Syracuse and was an All-American in both football and lacrosse.
He is the only NFL player to ever average over 100 yards per game for his career. He had a combination of power and speed that very few running backs ever had.
Watch in this video as he either eludes or just bowls over his would-be tacklers. The last last highlight listed is basically freak level stuff.
Amazingly, Brown retired in the heart his career and headed to Hollywood to make movies. He had at least a few years left in his career but still retired with 12,312 rushing yards and 2,499 in receptions.
Among his films were Ice Station Zebra, 100 Rifles, the Running Man, Mars Attacks!, He Got Game and The Dirty Dozen.
