The offense still needs some work though.

As Duke moves to 1-22 all-time against Florida State after years of frustration, let’s first admire Luke DeCock’s lead in his article tonight, because you’ll enjoy this:

Haha.

Who says sportswriting is dead? And who can disagree?

We’d like to add one small idea: since FSU felt like it wasn’t getting its fair share of revenue from the ACC, perhaps it’s time to consider that they are a drag on the conference now and maybe they should get a bit less. A 1-6 team, get an equal share?

Live up to your argument, losers.

Okay, now on to the game.

Admittedly, this is not the FSU of Bobby Bowden that would just slice you to death with precision strikes and pose on the way to the end zone, unmolested. It’s not even the declining Jimbo Fisher years or whoever it was who got fired before they hired Mike Norvell, who at least had them good enough last year to be hopping mad about missing the playoffs.

Not this year.

Florida State is shockingly bad.

Duke’s offense was not impressive - the Blue Devils only racked up 180 yards of offense - but the defense was outstanding.

And Florida State helped. Duke forced four turnovers but the ‘Noles had nine turnovers. they managed just two third-down conversions and only 12 completions.

FSU is, we understand, the only D-1 team this year to turn the ball over on three straight possessions.

It’s a train wreck and it couldn’t have happened to a better team.

Okay, well maybe UNC. But even the Tar Heels aren’t this bad.

Back in the day when Duke was really struggling, Bobby Bowden said that “I feel sorry for Duke, I really do.”

Given the arrogance we’ve seen from the Seminoles lately, they’re not likely to get much pity.

With the win, Duke is also bowl-eligible, which, as far as we can remember, is the earliest that has ever happened.
