Even Bronny is somehow throwing shade at Darvin Ham now

Despite not even being on the team last year, Bronny James is the latest Laker to toss some shade Darvin Ham’s way this preseason.

While there have been many interesting quotes and developments to monitor during the preseason, one thing has been abundantly clear: the Lakers really did not like Darvin Ham.

A side effect of swapping out coaching staffs while retaining basically every player is that every quote will be dissected and compared to last season. But perhaps the funniest possible person offered a little shade at Ham on Friday.

After shootaround ahead of the preseason’s opener, Bronny was asked about his early impressions of new head coach JJ Redick. To his credit, his answer felt genuine without any ill intent, but he produced the funniest sound bite yet this preseason.

Gee, guys. I wonder where Bronny heard that the vibes weren’t great last season. Can anyone think of a player on last year’s roster that Bronny might have been in contact with during the season? Anyone spring to mind?

Sure seems like Bronny might have let some dinnertime conversations last year accidentally slip out on this one!

He probably shouldn’t worry much because the Lakers have just taken turns throwing shade at Ham this preseason with most of it coming during Media Day. In nearly every scrum or interview he’s had this preseason, D’Angelo Russell has said something that could pretty easily be construed as a bit of shade at Ham, including repeatedly at Media Day.

Even Cam Reddish, who most felt was a beneficiary of some favoritism from Ham, threw shade his way, talking about how detail-oriented the team is this season.

To a certain extent, fans might be looking for something that’s not there with comments. There have been a few times where a quote could pretty easily be explained away as not a dig at Ham.

Unfortunately for Bronny, this is not the case. There is nothing about his quote that could be explained away as not shade. That it came from someone on the team is one thing, but that it came from LeBron’s son? Chefs kiss.

Welcome to the league, rook!
