A new staff looks to push this team to the next level.

The Cleveland Cavaliers enter the 2024-25 season with a brand new coaching staff. They hope to unearth whatever potential remains on the roster.

Kenny Atkinson spearheads the group as an offensive-oriented head coach who can offer a change of pace. The Cavs have high hopes that replacing J.B. Bickerstaff with Atkinson will be the key to maximizing the offensive potential of a team that has already established itself as elite defensively in recent years.

Johnnie Bryant, who was among Cleveland’s finalists for the head coaching position, joins as an associate head coach. Bryant previously served as an assistant coach for the New York Knicks and has a history with Donovan Mitchell from when Bryant was a player development assistant in Utah.

Other assistants such as DeMarre Carroll, Mike Gerrity and Jordan Ott also join the Cavaliers’ coaching staff this season. Carroll has experience as both a player and coach in the NBA while Gerrity most recently coached G-League basketball for the Charge. As for Ott, he already knows what it’s like to coach under Atkinson as the two spent time together in Brooklyn.

Atkinson and staff will have a lot to prove in their first season together. The Cavs are hoping to compete for a title sooner rather than later. Atkinson will be expected to put them in a position to do so by developing the core four. Growth felt stagnated under the previous staff. It will be this group’s job to reignite that spark and facilitate growth.

A full list of the incoming coaches can be found on the Cavaliers' official website.
