Class of 2025 three-star point guard Zyree Collins has scheduled an official visit to Murray State from Aug. 29-31, he told ZAGSBLOG.

Collins — the 6-foot, 165-pound guard from St. Mary’s (MO) and the Bradley Beal Elite AAU program — has garnered interest from several other programs like DePaul, Illinois State, Murray State, Saint Louis and Southern Illinois-Carbondale. The guard has already visited Murray State, Illinois State, SEMO and SIUC unofficially.

He broke down his options at Peach Jam:

DePaul: “It’s far from home. I don’t want to stay home, but if I have to I will. It’s a very good coaching staff also. And they’re trying to turn their program around. I’m getting recruited by [Bryan] Mullins right now. He was at SIU. So me and him, we kind of close. So he’s recruiting me over there now.”

Illinois State: “They have a good program and everything. Pretty much the same. It’s Illinois State, so.” Hearing from the whole staff but mainly head coach Ryan Pedon and associate head coach Jason Slay.

Murray State: “I think it’s a very good program. The coaches there know the game, and they know their players. So I feel like it would be a great fit.”

SIUC: “It’s a great environment for sure. Great team, great pieces. Just great all-around. Great program.”

SLU: “It’s home and my older brother went there. So it’s like, if I go there, it’s like carrying the legacy.”

On new head coach Josh Schertz: “He’s a very good guy. He’s got a good program and knows how to run his team.”

Zyree’s older brother is Yuri Collins, who went to SLU and led the entire country in assists per game during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 college basketball seasons. Yuri played in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors last year.

Collins is ranked the No. 31 overall point guard in the 2025 class by 247Sports. At Peach Jam, Collins posted 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as Bradley Beal Elite’s starting point guard.

His shooting was a little off at Peach Jam, but he showed what he can do when he’s on during the Kansas City session. In the final four contests, Collins had 22 points vs. the Oakland Soldiers, 18 points vs. Team Herro, 29 points vs. Team Durant and 21 points vs. Team United. He shot 59.6% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range in those four games.

“I’m more of a floor general,” Collins said of his game. “I’m a pure point guard so I like to get my teammates involved, get them going. Then I get myself going, feed off energy. I’m a very good passer, and I can shoot the ball also. I can get to the rim, get to my spots really well and pretty often.”

Collins has five total siblings including Yuri. His favorite NBA player is LeBron James.
