No surprise which side Drexler favors in this theoretical matchup.

After Serbian coach Svetislav Pešić said that this year’s Olympic team might be better than the Dream Team, well, it was a topic of discussion.

It’s been kicked around ever since and in this video, Rich Eisen Show guest host Kirk Morrison asks Dream Teamer Clyde Drexler his opinion.

Not surprisingly, Clyde the Glyde stuck with his 1992 team. He didn’t really get into why, but he did allow that the 1996 team might have been as good as the Dream Team, and that’s a reasonable argument: 1996 boasted Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, David Robinson, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Shaquille O’ Neal, Gary Payton and Hakeem Olajuwon and the bigs might give that team the edge.

However, 1992 had a lethal weapon in Michael Jordan and Jordan was not only a supremely talented and refined player, he was pathologically competitive. There wasn’t in 1992 or 1996, and certainly no one in 2024 who could have overcome Jordan.
