This kid is going to be a lot of fun

You know how you know when the Cooper Flagg hype train is picking up steam? It’s when TMZ interviews NBA players and the questions are about Flagg.

That’s what happened with TMZ caught up to the Miami Heat’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. and asked him about Flagg. Here’s what he said: “He’s an incredible talent. Incredible player. Great person.”

But when asked if Flagg would be as big a draft pick as Victor Wembanyama or LeBron James, Jaquez wasn’t as certain. “We’ll see. There's only one way to find out.”

And of course that’s the right answer.

Golden State’s Brandin Podziemski is also excited about Flagg's potential. He told the U.S. Sun that “...selfishly I wish high school players that are ready didn’t have to go to college. I feel like he could be in the NBA right now.”

Lots of people think that. This is not directly about Flagg as an NBA player but close enough: when Mike Krzyzewski was on the Dan Patrick Show, he said this about Flagg being on Team USA: “Not right now but he will be. He’s not just talented, he has a love of the game and he is a competitive kid. I mean, he is as competitive as any freshman that has come into Duke. He doesn’t have a position. He’s just a damn good basketball player.”

High praise all around.
