What’s the buzz on Twitter?

First thing I think of when it comes to Gordon Hayward is this feature on his barber/haircut from the Jazz days.

No matter what Utah Jazz fans think of July 4, 2017, Gordon Hayward was a special special basketball player that season. It was a pleasure covering him and that Jazz team that came into its own. I wish he had five more seasons at that level. Happy retirement. – 12:26 PM

Gordon Hayward retirement today comes on the 10th anniversary of Paul George’s compound fracture while playing for Team USA.
Same draft class of 2010, back to back picks. Hayward suffered similar injury 3 years later.

What do you make of Gordon Hayward’s career?
For such an accomplished player, it kind of leaves a bad taste, right?
(Prime years lost to injury, then retiring with gas left in the tank). – 10:13 AM

One of the first big events I covered live was Butler-Duke Final Four. Got to see it courtside too. What could have been had Gordon Hayward’s half-court shot actually miraculously banked in? (definitely wouldn’t have hit deadline). Best to Gordon Hayward on his retirement. – 10:10 AM

After 14 NBA seasons, Gordon Hayward is retiring. Hayward, 34, was a 2017 NBA All-Star in Utah and played for the Jazz, Celtics, Hornets and Thunder across his career. He was the No. 9 pick in the 2010 Draft after starring at Butler. pic.twitter.com/VrzfA5TrT79:59 AM

More on this storyline

Jorge Sierra: Klay Thompson has taken the biggest paycut so far this summer: $27,346,424 difference from last season’s salary to this year’s. Could lose that top spot to Gordon Hayward, who’s still a free agent. pic.twitter.com/mWH4x13Ooy -via Twitter @hoopshype / July 10, 2024
Gordon Hayward landed in Oklahoma City at the trade deadline and was supposed to steady the Thunder’s bench rotation but didn’t find much success. He averaged 17 minutes in 26 games at the end of the regular season but then fell out of the rotation during a second-round loss to the Clippers and failed to score a single point in 46 total playoff minutes (0-3 shooting). But I think there’s still good basketball here. He posted solid numbers in Charlotte to start the year — 14.5 points per game on shooting efficiency that was in line with his career averages. I know there are people within the Nuggets who are fans of Hayward. -via DNVR / June 2, 2024
