Carmelo Anthony on Jaylen Brown Team USA snub: 'I think he should have got a shot'

Anthony said that Brown should have been given a shot to play for Team USA, who will take on Serbia in round one of the Olympics on Sunday. “I think he should have got a shot,” Anthony said. “I think Paul (George) should have got a shot. That’s just, it is what it is.”

It is 2024 and I need an honest answer here.
In a vacuum.
Your team has Cason Wallace. A lottery pick and one and done combo guard out of Kentucky who was on a playoff team.
Would you trade him, a starter, and picks to acquire Devin Booker, and also sign Jaylen Brown? – 9:06 PM

More on this storyline

“When I took the job you know it was a veteran laden team,” Billups said. “Melo [Anthony] was actually still on the roster. I really took the job thinking that I was going to be coaching him. You know with Dame [Lillard] and CJ [McCollum], Nurk [Nurkic]. So it was perfect for me, I’m thinking okay boom, a few moves here and there, I’m coming to like try to elevate things and then very quickly it changed.” -via Clutch Points / July 23, 2024
ClutchPoints: “Imagine me at 23 years old… being the 4th option on a team when I’m leading [the Nuggets] every single year… I don’t know mentally how I was gonna be ready for that.” Carmelo Anthony on not teaming up with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade on the Heat. pic.twitter.com/MlyHi6O7gx -via Twitter @ClutchPointsApp / July 22, 2024
Well, if you’ve got an extra $4.75 million lying around and are eager to spend it, this industrial-style residence in the Fort Point neighborhood might be the ideal spot to settle down in unique style. Records show the condo was last purchased for $5.5 million in October 2021. Its current owner is Celtics star Jaylen Brown, who was named NBA Finals MVP in June after the team snagged its league-record 18th championship. -via Robb Report / July 19, 2024
Bobby Manning: Asked Brad Stevens about Jaylen Brown being left off #TeamUSA: “Jaylen’s a great player. I don’t think there’s any doubt that Jaylen could be on any team, any Olympic team in any year. But at the end of the day, his approach, he talked about how he called Derrick, he talked about his own feelings … whether he has success, or he gets all the accolades, like Finals MVP or eastern conference finals MVP, or he feels like he got left off the team. He’s going to be motivated and hungry regardless. That’s what I’ve always loved about him. He always goes back to work.” -via Twitter @RealBobManning / July 17, 2024
“In the past, have there been decisions made with Team USA over the last 15-20 years where a player’s shoe deal has influenced it? Of course. If it’s 50/50, would there ever be a Nike player get in over an Adidas player? Has that happened? Yes. Jaylen Brown is correct that that has happened. In this case, I don’t think that was a key factor.” -via YouTube / July 17, 2024
