The Pelicans are just as much in win now mode as the Kings. Why would they help Sac by taking back worse talent (Barnes/Huerter) & future picks?
Unless they know they aren’t going to pay him & this is the best value they can get. Other than that, it doesn’t make sense. – 6:38 PM

More on this storyline

One potential contingency plan that’s been bantered around the league if the 76ers fail to land George is Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram via trade. Another team to potentially keep an eye on for Ingram is the Sacramento Kings, HoopsHype has learned. For now, there’s only been exploratory interest from Sacramento in an Ingram pursuit. While talks haven’t escalated yet with Sacramento for Ingram, the Kings have separately dangled a general trade package elsewhere around the league, including Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, the No. 13 pick, which turned out to be Devin Carter, and future draft picks in the years to come as trade bait during the NBA Draft, league sources said. -via HoopsHype / June 30, 2024
One team to monitor for Ingram would be Sacramento. The Kings have been weighing paths to acquire various wings, sources said, from Kyle Kuzma to Zach LaVine, and Ingram could be another option for Sacramento to explore, sources said. The Kings have veteran wings Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter, whom Sacramento placed on the trade market last deadline, sources said, and their two salaries combine for almost a perfect match to meet Ingram’s $36 million expiring number for 2024-25. -via Yahoo! Word among team executives persists about Sacramento’s efforts to trade for veteran help with the No. 13 pick and some combination of Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes, but there have yet to be credible rumblings about any major deals regarding either Hawks All-Star guard, Pelicans All-Star swingman Brandon Ingram, or any other player of that magnitude. -via Yahoo!
