The Lakers announced their Summer League roster on Tuesday with one notable omission in Jalen Hood-Schifino, who is out with a back injury.

After introducing the team’s new rookies in Dalton Knecht and Bronny James on Tuesday, the Lakers announced the team’s Summer League roster and schedule.

While it was known both Knecht and Bronny will be on the roster for the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, 2023 first-round pick Jalen Hood-Schifino was the notable exclusion from the list. JHS underwent back surgery late in the season and will not be available during the summer as he recovers.

Outside of JHS, the roster was to be expected. Two-way signings Blake Hinson and Armel Traore are both on the roster. Colin Castleton, who was extended a two-way qualifying offer, and second-year player Maxwell Lewis will also be highlights of the team.

One of the only pre-draft workouts that was reported included Quincy Olivari as well. Sean East II and Olivari both signed Exhibit-10 deals with the Lakers after the draft.

The starting lineup for this team could be pieced together based on what we see on the roster. Castleton, Lewis and Knecht are shoo-ins to start. There’s a good chance Blake Hinson, given his size and shooting, starts as a four, which leaves one more guard spot.

While some might assume Bronny starts, I wouldn’t be surprised if Olivari, a natural point guard, takes that spot. If it’s not Olivari, it’ll likely be a guard that can run the offense.

Bronny, though, will get plenty of reps this summer. With a whole host of games to play between Sacramento and Las Vegas, there will be plenty of time for him and this roster to see the court.
