The plan for the Clippers:
A — find a way to get Paul George to accept version of offer that has been available for about a year, get on with re-tooling second unit bigs
B — find lower tier replacement for George, get on with re-tooling second unit bigs – 6:16 PM

If Paul George leaves the Clippers, they may want to field the roster below the $178.1 million first apron and even the $170.8 million luxury tax.
There are pathways they can do that with James Harden’s new deal factored in while adding an impactful replacement for George. – 6:00 PM

More on this storyline

To this point, the Clippers have essentially drawn a line in the sand that Kawhi Leonard’s three-year, $153 million deal is the most they’ll look to spend on George, league sources told HoopsHype. George, meanwhile, is seeking a four-year max contract in free agency. It remains to be seen if George indeed garners max offers from the 76ers and Magic, as expected, forcing the Clippers to reconsider their stance on the number of years and salary they’re willing to offer or risk losing him. -via HoopsHype / June 30, 2024
The Clippers, then, have made it clear to this point they have no intention of awarding any player — not Kawhi Leonard, not George, not James Harden — with a contract beyond three years, league sources told Yahoo Sports, in order to permit Los Angeles the future flexibility to evade the penalties of the second apron. -via Yahoo! Sports / June 30, 2024

There’s a growing belief around the NBA that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope won’t return to the Denver Nuggets. During the weekend, the buzz surrounding a significant Orlando Magic pursuit of Caldwell-Pope in free agency grew louder, league sources told HoopsHype. The Philadelphia 76ers are also monitoring Caldwell-Pope and have interest depending on how the team’s pursuit of top target Paul George goes. -via HoopsHype / June 30, 2024
