Cam Reddish is reportedly the latest Laker to opt-in to his contract for the 2024-25 season.

The Lakers saw yet another domino fall this weekend as Cam Reddish will reportedly opt into his contract, according to Shams Charania. Reddish's was the easiest to predict all the option decisions set to be made this week.

He’s set to make $2.5 million in the 2024-25 season.

Reddish may have picked up his option, but it’s far from a given that he’ll be a Laker next season. No one is a better candidate to be salary dumped than Reddish, who wasn’t even in the rotation down the stretch last season.

It was a wild season for Reddish. He began the year not just fully entrenched in the rotation, but in the starting lineup. Eventually, injuries forced him to the sideline and kept him there for much of the second half of the season. By the time he got healthy, the Lakers had found a groove and Reddish never saw the court again.

However, because the Lakers were so eager to sign him last offseason, the offered him a player option, something they did with a number of veteran’s minimum contracts last summer. While all of them were questionable, none more so than Reddish, who has bounced around the league in his career.

With the Lakers facing a severe roster crunch, players will have to be traded away and Reddish is the prime candidate. He’s on a small deal, wouldn’t require much in the way of assets attached to him and wasn’t even a factor at the end of last season. On top of that, they drafted another wing in Dalton Knecht who will take minutes from him this season.

It would be a genuine surprise if Reddish was on the roster at the start of next season. For now, though, that will be the case after picking up his option.
