It’s here!

One of the most exciting days of the NBA season is upon us, as the 2024 NBA Draft is officially here. For the first time, the league is switching to a two-day format, so only the first round of the draft will take place tonight, with the second and final round occurring on Thursday.

But the first round is where most of the excitement happens, and that’s doubly true this year seeing as how, for the first time in recent memory, there’s no consensus as to who the top picks should be.

Unfortunately, barring a last-minute trade, the Golden State Warriors will be sitting on the sidelines today. The Dubs gave up their first-round pick in this draft five years ago when they traded Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies in a cap-clearing move that facilitated the addition of D’Angelo Russell (which eventually led to the additions of Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga).

The Warriors could still potentially trade up into the first round, though I wouldn’t hold my breath. It seems unlikely that they’ll be able to get into the first round, though there’s always the chance that they pull off a large trade featuring Wiggins and/or Chris Paul, which could vault them into Day 1 of the draft.

But in all likelihood, this is a day to watch and enjoy and follow the rumors, before seeing who the Warriors select No. 52 on Thursday.
