Good news for McCain and we’ll see about Filipowski on Thursday

NBA Draft night is two nights now, with the first round on Wednesday and the second round on Thursday afternoon.

As it turns out, Duke’s entries into the draft this season will have very different experiences.

Jared McCain went in the first round at #16 to the Philadelphia 76ers and Kyle Filipowski, who was not selected in the first round, will have to wait until Thursday.

We’ll have to wait to see where Filipowski ends up of course, but McCain may be in a fairly good situation. Kyle Lowry is 38 and Buddy Field is 31. Tyrese Maxey is a rising star and former NC State star Terquavion Smith is trying to carve out a role. But there’s a spot for McCain here.

As for other Blue Devil factors in the draft, Atlanta’s Quin Snyder and Grant Hill had the top pick in the draft and took France’s 6-9 Zaccharie Risacher. New Detroit GM Trajan Langdon opted for G-Leaguer Ron Holland who has dazzled with his athletic gifts and his work ethic. New L.A. coach JJ Redick should have a good time coaching Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht. They’ll have a lot to talk about.

New Orleans picked up a potentially great fit with Zion Williamson in Baylor’s Yves Missi. He really jumped off the screen when we watched him this year. He’s really imposing.
