Hofstra officially signs St. John’s transfer Cruz Davis

Hofstra offiically announced the addition of St. John’s Cruz Davis to the roster. 

“Thrilled to add Cruz to the Hofstra family,” said head coach Speedy Claxton. “Cruz is a very skilled guard who will assist us in a variety of ways on the court.”

Davis, a native of Plano, Texas, attended St. John’s University in 2023-24 after beginning his collegiate career at Iona University in 2022-23. 

At Iona, Davis was a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team selection after averaging 6.5 points per game. Davis played in 24 games and made seven starts, while averaging nearly 19 minutes per contest. He tallied a season-high 16 points at Marist and reached double figures in five of the last 11 games of the season. 

At St. John’s, Davis missed the majority of the season with an injury after appearing in four games and totaling seven points, seven assists, and five rebounds. He posted a season-best five points against Stony Brook. 

Cruz attended Huntington Prep School in Huntington, West Virginia prior to college. A four-star recruit, he was ranked No. 27 at his position in the nation. Davis averaged 16.7 points and 5.0 assists per game at Huntington Prep and scored 1,153 points during his high school career iSchool of Lewisville (TX).
