Scottie Scheffler will have to appear in court at a later date following his arrest at the PGA Championship.

Scottie Scheffler’s arraignment has been rescheduled.

Instead of appearing before a judge on Tuesday at 9 a.m. ET, he will do so on Monday, Jun. 3, the same week as the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio. Scheffler’s attorney, Steve Romines, indicated this to Rex Hoggard of the Golf Channel, while also saying that his client must appear.

“I’ve been defending criminal cases for 30 years and have learned to never be surprised,” Romines said, per Hoggard.

He added, "Whoever reported [the charges] were going to be dismissed was not accurate.”

Scheffler faces four charges from his early Friday morning arrest at the PGA Championship. Officers charged the top-ranked player in the world with assaulting a police officer to the second degree, a felony that carries a penalty of between 5-10 years in prison. He also received three misdemeanors: criminal mischief to the third degree, reckless driving, and disregarding signals of a police officer.

Louisville Metro Police Department of Corrections booked Scheffler at 7:28 a.m. ET on Friday, May 17, and released him rather quickly, as the two-time Masters champion still made it to his Friday morning tee time.

Scheffler arrived at Valhalla at 9:11 a.m. ET, roughly 57 minutes before he began his second round. He then shot a 5-under 66 on Friday, but the emotions of his arrest caught up to him the following day when Scheffler carded a 2-over 74 during the third round.

That ultimately sealed his fate in relation to contending for the Wanamaker Trophy, but his fate regarding this case remains up in the air.

He will compete this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
