Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Monday, May 20th.

In today’s Dub Hub:

The Golden State Warriors have been a model franchise in the NBA over this past decade, and a big reason for that is the continuity and standard of excellence provided by their head coach, Steve Kerr. Sunday officially marked the 10-year anniversary of the Warriors hiring Kerr as their head coach, a decision which led to the most successful era in franchise history.

Under Kerr’s leadership, the Warriors became the gold standard in the NBA. He holds the highest win percentage in franchise history with a record of 519-274 (.654 win percentage). Meanwhile, his postseason success speaks for itself, leading the Warriors to four championships and six NBA Finals appearances during his first 10 years with the team.

Kerr’s free-flowing motion offense and innovative defensive schemes made the Warriors unstoppable during their championship runs. The team is hoping that success continues for as long as Kerr wants to lead the way. To celebrate their beloved head coach, Golden State honored him with a video highlighting his best moments with the team.

CP3 ‘definitely open’ to owning NBA, WNBA team after he retires | NBC Sports Bay Area

During an interview with Forbes, Paul was asked about the potential for an ownership spot with the Charlotte Hornets or an NBA expansion team.

“Charlotte is definitely home, but I’m open,” Paul said (h/t Bleacher Report). “Especially if there’s expansion or something like that, I’m definitely open. I’ve been involved with the league for too long, from every aspect of it. Just knowing the game, understanding the GMs, player relations, all of the different entities, that’s definitely one of my goals. I want to own a team.”

Paul grew up in North Carolina, so becoming an owner of the Hornets would be a dream come true for the 12-time All-Star point guard, who has spent the past 19 seasons playing in the NBA.

Bronny James recalls feeling starstruck after meeting Steph | NBC Sports Bay Area

The 2024 NBA Draft prospect and son of LeBron James recently revealed to Bleacher Report that meeting Curry was the last time he felt starstruck.

“I think when I [saw] Steph playing at Crypto [Arena] a minute ago, and he came up to me and dapped me up,” Bronny James said. “... I feel like that was really cool.”

Exclusive: Steph Curry bought a building in S.F. Here are his plans for it | San Francisco Chronicle

The property, located at 600 20th St. and within walking distance of Chase Center, home of the Warriors, traded hands for $8.5 million — nearly six times higher than what it sold for in 2021. Real estate agency Touchstone Commercial Real Estate Partners brokered the deal, but declined to comment.

The property, which has been pitched for redevelopment into a five-story mixed-use building, will serve as the new headquarters for Thirty Ink, Curry’s off-court business enterprise. A representative of the company said it plans to vacate its Howard Street location in the SoMa neighborhood. The number thirty is Curry’s Jersey number.

Rudy Gobert hit the most unlikely shot of his life to cap Timberwolves’ historic comeback | SB Nation

Facing a shot clock that was about to expire after catching a desperation inbounds to avoid a five-second violation, Gobert drove baseline and then spun back the other way to hit a shot that it’s probably not an overstatement to call both the biggest and most skilled bucket he’s ever hit in his career when considering the circumstances:

From Wolves backup Luka Garza reacting as though he just witnessed God, to Nikola Jokic nearly grabbing his head in disbelief before composing himself, the clip is just incredible.

Brunson breaks hand in Game 7, laments end of Knicks’ run | ESPN

As he sat at the podium, his left hand and wrist immobilized after suffering a fracture in a season-ending 130-109 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson was asked if this season was a success.

“No,” he said, flatly.

Asked later why that was the case, he responded, “Did we win the championship? Did we get close?”

After a pause, he continued, “So, no. That’s my mindset.

“That’s just how it is.”

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:

Is Draymond Green ruining his future broadcasting career?

It’s a shame because the topic of how to guard Nikola Jokic is something Green knows a lot about! He should have a ton of insight about the best way to guard the three-time MVP, what you do to counter his passing, where the Timberwolves are falling short in post defense, etc.

Instead, the TNT audience is getting the same “LOL Gobert” takes they’d get from Twitter. And probably from me, too, but I didn’t successfully defend Jokic in a playoff series. “LOL Gobert” is all I have!
