Drissa Traore is on the move.

The 6-foot-8 sophomore is transferring to Rhode Island from St. John’s after averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds last season under first-year coach Rick Pitino.

Traore initially committed to Mike Anderson at St. John’s in 2020, and was one of two players Pitino retained when he took over — along with big man Joel Sorian

“Drissa is one of the hardest playing power forwards on the East Coast,” PSA Cardinals director Terrance “Munch” William said at the time. “He’s shown the ability to rebound at a high level at both ends of the floor. He’s been known as a winner his entire life and will continue that at the next level. He is a productive finisher at the rim, makes the 15-foot jump shot and is currently working on expanding his offensive skillset to the three-point line.”
