Indiana coach Mike Woodson and his staff continued to bolster their roster with the addition Saturday of Stanford transfer Kanaan Carlyle.

Carlyle joins Arizona transfer Oumar Ballo and Washington State transfer Myles Rice in Indiana’s latest class.

The 6-foot-3 Atlanta native averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season at Stanford and opted to leave following the coach change that ushered in Mark Madsen.

Damien Wilkins, the former general manager and head of basketball for Overtime Elite, had high praise for Carlyle when he signed with Stanford in 2022.

“Kanaan is special. He’s a guy that plays hard on both ends of the floor,” Wilkins said then..

“He’s quick, fast and athletic. He’s got a skill package where he can shoot it, he can drive,” City Reapers coach Dave Leitao said in 2022. “The potential for his overall package is limitless. Now, he’s got to respect the game, grow, continue to work so that his gifts can continue to flourish. I love him. I absolutely love him.

He added: “He’s got some real unteachable gifts. One is his ferocious approach to the game on both ends. He can defend the ball very, very well.”
