Imagine that Griff doesnt want to sell low on Graham just yet. Also, contract talks with Hayes dont go well, and Nance and Zion are going to take his minutes anyway. Good chance to sell now and also offload Temple in a 2-for-1 that might open up a roster spot. What type of deals would you look for? Me, personally, I want an expiring in case I look to make a move in February, and I also dont want someone who will be annoying if they dont get minutes. I want Trey getting first crack at the backup 4 minutes. Some ideas:
1. Temple and Jax for Danny Green and a 2nd (2023 from Atlanta or Charlotte, whomever is worse) - Green might miss the first half of next year (or longer). He gives you the vet leadership Temple does but you open up a roster spot and save a few million
2. Temple and Jax for Dwight Powell - A solid body to have, less expensive, and open up a roster spot
3. Temple and Jax for Dario Saric and a 2nd - A young big lobcatcher for Phoenix as Javale goes back into free agency and Ayton hits the trade market. Willie gets a player he is familiar with on an expiring, roster spot opens up and money is saved, allowing MLE to be used
4. Temple and Jax to Portland for a 2nd round pick - This is the dream, for me. Portland uses exception or cap money to just take them on, Pels now have full MLE and two roster spots open. Can package the two 2nds to move up and get a guy they like there and also use MLE without worry of getting near tax. Also, get a 12+ mil TPE. Can also do something similar with Spurs and Thunder.
5. Temple and Jax for Juancho Hernangomez - Unite the Gomi and open a roster spot plus save about 5 mil. Again, allowing you to get a full MLE guy without worrying about tax
These would be the types of trades I would explore. I am guessing some others will want to package them for a player or players who would actually play. Not me. Invest in the young guys and even a little in restoring Graham's value back to a net neutral. What y'all got?
