Rich Strike, the #21 horse, the last horse in the starting gate furthest from the rail, wins at 80 to 1 odds, the 2nd longest shot in Derby history.
Wasn't even in the field until yesterday. On Friday, one of the other horses got scratched, and RS was the replacement.
I think the jockey ran 6 races yesterday at Belterra Park race track, formerly River Downs, in Cincinnati.
Great finish by RS. Had to split between 2 horses down the stretch in order to open up a lane to run in. RS then ran past 2 horses to take the victory.
Very fast start, the 2 horses that RS ran by down the stretch ran out of gas I guess.
