What did Lebron James say to Cam Payne?

On Friday, October 22, 2021, the Los Angeles Lakers played a game against the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns ended up winning with a score of 115-105.

During the game, video footage was posted showing Lebron James talking to the Suns’ guard, Cam Payne.

“Stay humble. You was at home a year and a half ago, now you wanna pop off,” said James.

He repeated the phrase “stay humble” along with some expletives.

Allegedly, Payne was trash talking the Lakers throughout the game.

The video shows James resting on the bench while Payne is still playing in the game.

What other altercations occurred during the Lakers and Suns game?

During a timeout in the second quarter, Lakers players Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard got into an argument on the bench.

The two had to be seperated after Davis reportedly grabbed Howard’s arm.

While exact words shared between the two aren’t known, the argument allegedly stemmed from miscommunication on a defensive coverage.

According to Howard, he and Davis put an end to their argument “right then and there.”

“We already talked, squashed it. There’s no issue between me and [Davis].

“That’s my brother, that’s my teammate. That’s what I told him. I said, ‘I’ll always be here for you. No matter what. I’ll always fight for you and do whatever I can to help this team win.’ He said the same thing. So, we’re good.”

During the game, a fan was ejected for slapping Lakers point guard, Rajon Rondo.

It’s unclear as to why the altercation between the fan and Rondo began, but the fan was removed from the stadium.

Rondo did not comment following the game.

How did the Lakers coach react?

After the game, an interview with Lakers coach Frank Vogel showed him sharing his thoughts regarding the interactions on the court.

“When you’re getting you’re a*s kicked, sometimes those conversations get heated… I’d rather our guys care than not care,” he said.

“Those guys love each other, they talked it out, and that’s going to happen from time to time.”

Frank Vogel has been with the Lakers since 2019.

He got his career start with the Indiana Pacers in 2011, and he coached Orlando Magic from 2016 to 2018.

In 2020, Vogel was named head coach in the NBA All-Star Game.
