This is fun to say the least

It’s really easy to think of Hank Williams as being from another time and place because first of all, he is.

And then again, he isn’t.

First, his lyrics were, like so many great lyrics, deceptively simple. But if you listen enough, eventually they’ll work their way into your brain and they’ll come up when you’re either really happy (Hey Good Lookin’), when you could use some consoling (Lovesick Blues), when you need a good cry (I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry), or just some fun (Move it On Over, Settin’ The Woods On Fire).

The thing is though a lot of his songs have been covered and they’re reborn. George Thorogood did a great cover of Move It On Over. James Brown even covered Your Cheatin’ Heart.

But of all the covers in the all the gin joints in all the cities of the world, it’s hard to beat this one: Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles doing Jambalaya. Ron Woods is in the background as is Paul Shaffer.

He’s still a towering figure in American music and keep in mind that he died in 1952 and was just 29.
