Two weeks after de-committing from New Mexico, class of 2022 three-star forward Jamel King has committed to West Virginia, he announced Thursday via Twitter.

“Coach [Bob] Huggins is a Hall of Fame coach,” King told ZAGSBLOG by text. “I feel like West Virginia is going to develop me into a great player and the coaching staff is very supportive.”

King, the 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward from Bella Vista (AZ) Prep, chose West Virginia over offers from Arkansas State, Cal State Northridge, East Tennessee State, Kennesaw State, Samford, South Alabama, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Troy and UAB, among others.

“I’m a very versatile player,” King said. “I shoot the three-ball at a high level. I can defend and my slashing ability is my best attribute.”

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 31 small forward in the nation, King joins three-star combo guard Seth Wilson and three-star point guard Kobe Johnson in WVU’s 2021 recruiting class.

The Mountaineers are also bringing in transfers Malik Curry (Old Dominion), Pauly Paulicap (DePaul) and Dimon Carrigan (Florida International).

King did not take a visit to West Virginia before committing.
