The Cavs’ 2021 first-round pick made the second team and also received a first-team vote.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Isaac Okoro has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team according to a release from the league.

Okoro, the fifth pick by the Cavs out of Auburn last November, received 53 total points and received one first-team vote to make the second team alongside Chicago’s Patrick Williams, New York’s Immanuel Quickley, Detroit’s Isaiah Stewart and Memphis’ Desmond Bane.

The All-Rookie first team is made up of Hornets guard and Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball, Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton, Rockets forward Jae’Sean Tate and Pistons wing Saddiq Bey.

Okoro’s case for an All-Rookie slots isn’t infallible, but it’s strong and he’s deserving of this slot. He was thrown into the deep end on defense, succeeded and added little by little on offense as the year went on. As he heads into year two, and gets a non COVID-19 impacted offseason to work on his game, it’s going to be fascinating to see how much Okoro can grow.
