Duke Recruiting: Bad News For UNC, Maybe Better For Duke?

A strong first recruiting class would be a huge help for soon-to-be-Duke coach Jon Scheyer | Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

As the recruiting world turns!

As we’ve said from time to time, reading recruiting info from other fan bases is usually a great way to get insight. With that in mind, check out this bit from KeepingitHeel.com about 5-star prospect Mark Mitchell.

The sentiment for UNC is not good here but you should remember that Hubert Davis is just getting started and we have no idea how effective a recruiter he’s going to be. So don’t draw conclusions just yet and certainly not from one recruit who hasn’t even committed yet.

That said, this article seems to think that UCLA, Duke and Kansas are the schools to watch for Mitchell.

A 6-8, 205 lb. forward from Kansas, he’d be a coup for anyone but especially young coaches like Hubert Davis and Jon Scheyer who are trying to establish their bona fides and recruiting chops.

Duke’s last player from Kansas, and the only one we can think of, was Semi Ojeleye, who finished at SMU and who has been a Boston Celtic for several years.
