Alex Caruso sees everything with his eagle eye.

A lot has been said about Anthony Davis since he returned from injury in April. People have questioned his toughness, his commitment to the Lakers and his ability to lead with LeBron James out.

While it’s unclear if Davis saw those tweets, his teammate Alex Caruso definitely did, and he used part of his walk-off interview with Spectrum SportsNet to call out some of Davis’ harshest critics:

“I can’t speak for him personally, but I know I’ve heard a lot of chit chat, some tweets, some words around the world about ‘AD is so soft and he’s falling all over the place,’ and guys got to understand they’ve just got to give him a couple games to get his feet under him,” Caruso said. “The beast is waking up, as everybody can tell.

“Last game he looked more like himself, this game he’s doing reverse dunks to finish the game. We’re starting to see vintage AD and he’s rounding in to form.”

The first rule of the internet is to ignore trolls, but the people that were saying these things about Davis weren’t trolls; they were fans, and the strangest part about it was that Davis proved that all of the stereotypes about him were wrong just last season.

I mean, did everyone just forget that he that averaged 27.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game in the playoffs last year? And that he averaged over 30 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in his two other postseason appearances?

What’s next? Are people going to start questioning whether LeBron James can carry a team because he lost to the Raptors earlier this month?

No, Davis wasn’t that guy in the beginning of the season, nor did he look like that guy in his first few games back from injury, but within the context of his career — specifically his Lakers career — it never made sense to doubt him. He’s been a superstar from basically the moment he entered the league, and he’ll continue to be that as long as he’s healthy.
