[Softball] Cal Pac Announces Softball All-Conference and All-Defense Teams
Because it is in its probationary year in the NAIA, Park-Gilbert is not eligible for the postseason in 2021, but there is no ignoring the impact the Buccaneers made in their first season in the California Pacific Conference. Park landed two players on the All-Conference team, one of which--Michele DiNicola--was voted the Player of the Year in a postseason poll by the conference coaches. The junior outfielder hit .442 (3rd in the Cal Pac), led the nation in Slugging Percentage (.977), hit six home runs, averaging 0.40 per game, the second-best in the NAIA. Simpson senior pitcher Sydney Moorhead was named Pitcher of the Year for the second time, taking home the award as a freshman in 2018. Moorhead, 12-3 on the season, led the Cal Pac in almost every pitching category, including Earned Run Average (2.53) and Opponents Batting Average (.237). SU's Wayne Stower was selected by his peers as the Coach of the Year for the eighth time since 2010, being named in all but three of the past 11 seasons (there was no All-Cal Pac Team in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
