Stephen Curry’s good deeds never cease to amaze coach Steve Kerr

Coach Steve Kerr had praise for his star player, Stephen Curry, before Wednesday’s game in Washington and not specifically because of his streak of 11 straight games of scoring 30 points or more. Curry invited Delaware state trooper Joshua Morris to Monday’s game at Philadelphia after hearing about Morris playing pickup basketball with a group of youngsters and giving one of the kids a pair of Curry’s shoes.

After the game Monday, Curry met with Morris, presented him with his game-worn jersey and a bag of memorabilia for him to share with kids.

“It didn’t surprise me. I see him doing stuff like this all the time, some of it is publicized, some of it is not,” Kerr said of Curry’s gesture. “He is a brilliant ambassador for the league, but more importantly he’s just a wonderful human being. He sees these stories and he understands the power that he holds and he wants to use that power for good.

‘I guarantee you no coincidence that moment came at the same time this Derek Chauvin trial was coming to an end. And he saw an opportunity to try to connect people out there — a state trooper and an ordinary citizen. What a beautiful gesture. It’s important we recognize everybody out there who is doing something positive for our society, who is trying to help things. I love that Steph recognized it and honored both of the people involved.”
