Sharing Accounts

0 8
Something that has been lingering in my head for awhile now.....

When did it become "ok" to share your subscription account information? Netflix, amazon, HBO, news papers, etc..... One person pays for it, and how many others "borrow" it type deals? Kind of struck me when different people that wouldn't even think about taking a five finger discount in any other situation in life asked for my password information for different things. I know Netflix and others are allegedly doing things to limit this practice (how much can be done I'm not sure and what the consequences are, I'm not sure) but its to the point where as a society, it doesn't even cross people's mind that its stealing, its just commonly accepted as ok. I know other people that have "teamed up" one pays for netflix, the other pays for HBO and they share their accounts with each other so each has both. Again both parties that wouldn't normally think of stealing a physical object in any store, at any moment in time. I can only imagine that its as rampant on college campuses as under-aged drinking.

I know this has been a thing for a while, its hardly a new phenomenon but its always struck me just how much of a "meh" approach is given to the notion. Can they do anything to stop it? Should they do anything to stop it?
