All-CCAC Men's Basketball Team

On a night it lost an automatic bid to the upcoming NAIA National Championships, St. Ambrose got a bit of good news as John Kerr and Michael Williams were each named to the all-CCAC men's basketball team Monday. Kerr received first team all-conference honors while Williams was named to the second team.

Kerr added to a stellar career by averaging a team-leading 19.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season. He shot 56.1 percent from the field, 43.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.5 percent from the foul line.

The 6-7 forward from Lake Villa, Ill., is currently 16th in the nation in defensive rebounding (7.6 rpg), 18th in total rebounding and 40th in scoring. He is second in the conference in scoring and sixth in rebounding. Kerr scored in double figures in 19 of SAU's 21 games this season, reached at least 20 points 11 times, and had a pair of 30-plus point games, including netting a career-best 31 points in a season-opening win over East-West University on Oct. 31.

The two-time first team all-CCAC selection had 11 games of at least 10 rebounds with a season-best 16 coming against CCAC champion Olivet Nazarene on Feb. 10. Kerr collected 10 double-doubles this season.

Kerr continued his climb up the St. Ambrose record book. He finished with 1,706 career points, becoming just the eighth Bee to top 1,700 points, and he registered 951 career rebounds, the third-highest mark in program history.

The 2018 CCAC Freshman of the Year, Kerr received all-conference honorable mention in his first year at St. Ambrose, was named to the second team last season, and was a first-team selection in 2019.

Williams, himself an honorable mention all-conference performer last season, stepped up down the stretch to become the Bees' second scoring option. The 6-5 senior forward from Addison, Ill., averaged 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds but upped those numbers to 16.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in league play.

Williams scored in double figures in each of the team's final 11 games of the year, averaging 17.4 points on 52.6 percent shooting over that stretch.

He finished with 14 games of at least 10 points, including a career-high 32-point game in a 93-92 win at Lincoln College on Jan. 30. Williams shot 48.5 percent from the floor and 72.3 percent from the line.

He scored 1,080 career points at St. Ambrose, placing him 45th on the school's all-time scoring list.

Kerr, Williams and the Bees finished the season 15-6 overall and took third in the CCAC with a 9-3 league mark. Their season ended in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinals.
