The Lakers have been fantastic to start the season, but they’re about the get tested in ways they haven’t before later this month.

The Los Angeles Lakers have won nine of their last 10 games. During that time, they’ve played six teams: the San Antonio Spurs, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Houston Rockets, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls.

Of those six teams, only three of them have records that or at or above .500: the Spurs, Grizzlies and Thunder. And of those three teams, neither of them currently have top-10 net ratings, although the Grizzlies and Spurs both have top-10 defenses. The Spurs are the one team that beat the Lakers during their dominant 10-game stretch.

In layman’s terms, the Lakers haven’t had the stiffest competition to start the season. In fact, outside of their opening night matchup with the LA Clippers, it’s hard to say that the Lakers have played an especially good team. But should that take anything away from what they’ve been able to accomplish so far?

No, and Christian and Jacob discuss why on today’s episode of “Can U Dig It?” But first, the guys recap the Lakers’ win over the Pelicans on Friday, in which the Lakers flipped the switch defensively and blew the game open. After that, they get into the strength of the Lakers’ schedule so far, and how it’s affected their impressive early numbers.

Then, to close the show, they preview the Lakers’ upcoming slate of games, starting with their contest against the Golden State Warriors on Monday. After that, the Lakers will travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks, who have the second-best net rating in the NBA behind the Lakers. Both games should be fun, but the Bucks game should give us an idea of where the Lakers are in their development.
