0 12

Doane Men's Basketball hosted Mount Marty on Saturday afternoon in Crete in a rescheduled contest with the Lancers. The game was originally scheduled for November 11 as the conference opener. Doane jumped out quickly on the visitors but it was the Lancers who would walk away with a 75-68 road win.

The game opened with a 3-point basket from the Lancers, however, Doane put together three runs of points, 10-0, 7-0, and 11-0, as they took a 20-point lead, 31-11. Tyler Sullivan (JR/Gretna, Neb.) and Will Grixby (SO/Omaha, Neb.) knocked down 3-point baskets in the 10-0 run while Max Masin (JR/Ponca, Neb.) had a 3-point bucket in the final two runs of points. For Masin, he would hit three straight from behind the arc before a miss would snap nine consecutive makes on 3-point shot attempts.

Mount Marty went to their bench after falling behind by 20 and received a huge spark from Saba Gvedashvili and Marquise Moore, who combined to average 6.9 points on the season. They each knocked down three 3-point baskets and finished with 13 points apiece. By halftime, the Lancers had tied the game at 38-all as Mount Marty made nine of their final 11 shot attempts while Doane finished the half 1-of-12 and without a made basket in the final 6:12.

Doane scored on three of their four possessions to open the second half while the Lancers scored on two possessions during the opening minutes as the Tigers led by three, 45-42. Mount Marty went on an 11-2 run to take their first lead, 53-47. Doane responded with an 8-0 run to regain the lead behind a pair of Masin layups. The teams would exchange the lead three more times before the Lancers went in front for good with 5:31 to play.

Masin led Doane with 17 points and four rebounds, making 3-of-5 behind the arc. Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Jaxon Harre (SR/Omaha, Neb.) added 13 points apiece with Harre pulling in a team-high seven rebounds. Doane shot 45-percent for the game but was limited to 26-percent behind the arc and 53-percent at the free throw line.

The Lancers overcame 20 turnovers which led to 27 Tiger points off turnovers by shooting 52-percent for the game and 45-percent from the floor. Behind Gvedashvili and Moore, Tajen Ross added a double-double for the Lancers with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Doane will play another rescheduled game on Monday, November 30, as they play host to Concordia at 7 PM. The game was originally scheduled for November 18.
