The former Warriors guard is joining a division rival.

It didn’t take Ky Bowman long to find a new home. Just a few days after being waived by the Golden State Warriors, the second-year point guard landed on his feet with a division rival: the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Bowman is signing a deal with LA, though it appears to be non-guaranteed, just as his contract with Golden State was.

Bowman exceeded expectations last year as a rookie. After going undrafted and signing a two-way contract with the Dubs, Bowman impressed teammates and coaches alike. When Steph Curry broke his hand, Bowman became a vital part of the rotation, and ended up using all of his available two-way contract days, before being having his contract converted to a multi-year deal.

While Bowman was better than anyone expected, he still struggled at times, especially on offense. With the Warriors drafting playmaker Nico Mannion in the second-round of the 2020 NBA Draft, the writing was on the wall for Bowman’s departure. Golden State wasn’t going to use two roster spots on unproven point guards, and shortly after waiving Bowman they agreed to terms with veteran backup Brad Wanamaker.

Best of luck to Ky in Southern California. Hopefully he makes the roster and the Warriors can see him a few times this year.
