That’s if there is one of course

With the Covid pandemic and no fans, it probably doesn't matter where you play the ACC Tournament.

Well except in one way, which we’ll get to in a minute.

The tournament, which was supposed to be held in DC this spring, has been moved back to Greensboro, it's traditional and natural home.

ACC Commissioner John Swofford said this: “The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament has enjoyed terrific experiences and hospitality at Capital One Arena. We look forward to returning to Washington, D.C., and appreciate Greensboro for welcoming and accommodating us during these unique and challenging times.”

So what’s the advantage of moving it? Geography.

Seven schools have a pretty easy trip to Greensboro - Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Clemson. Georgia Tech can reasonably make it a bus trip even if they don’t want to.

If Louisville bused it, it’d be a seven-hour trip. For the Florida schools it’s just under nine (Florida State) and 10 hours (Miami)

And of course the now far-flung conference extends to Notre Dame, (also about 10 hours), Syracuse about the same and for Boston College 11.

We’re not saying everyone should bus it, but if flying is impractical in March, and no one can come anyway, then Greensboro is the logical choice.
