Podcast: We’re sorry for ever doubting you, Rob Pelinka

The Lakers have had such a good offseason that we finally forced one of his biggest critics to apologize to Rob Pelinka.

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has done such a good job upgrading the roster of a team that was already defending champions that our podcast yesterday was titled “How the Lakers are winning free agency.” And then he went out and got Markieff Morris to come back for the veteran’s minimum this morning.

In short: This has been an incredible offseason for the purple and gold, and it’s not even over yet. The Lakers have either retained their key free agents, gotten better at the position of the player they’re replacing, or at the very least held even in basically every area, and again, this was a team that was already good enough to win the 2020 NBA Championship. Not bad for the shortest and most chaotic offseason in league history.

So as a result of all that deft maneuvering, on today’s episode of the Silver Screen and Roll podcast, we forced one of Pelinka’s biggest and most steadfast critics (our own Anthony Irwin) to finally apologize. But before they got to that, he and his co-host, Harrison Faigen reacted to the news of the Morris signing — and where the roster stands so far == before debating which players they’d like to see fill out the final available roster spots.

Then, after Anthony apologized to Pelinka, he and Harrison wrapped up the show by reacting to the shade Montrezl Harrell seemed to throw at the Clippers during his first remarks as a member of the Lakers on Monday.
