A distressing afternoon of football
It’ll be a while before the Victory Bell returns to Durham: UNC just hammered Duke in Wallace Wade Saturday, winning 56-24.
And it probably could have been worse.
Duke went down 21-0 in the first quarter and 42-10 at the half. The second half was a tie at 14 each but at that point, it didn’t make much difference. Duke just couldn't’ stop the Tar Heels.
Sam Howell, UNC’s very impressive sophomore quarterback, had 235 passing yards on 18/27. And UNC got 338 yards rushing.
There’s no sugarcoating it - it was an ugly loss to the one school you never want to lose to, much less resoundingly lose to.
Next up is Wake Forest. Jim will be along soon to add his .02 to the general sense of gloom.
