We’re looking back at the Lakers season that was, and what to expect from the team moving forward.

To win a championship, every single player on the roster has to contribute, as does the coaching staff. The 2019-20 version of the Los Angeles Lakers was no exception to this rule, from the 16th and 17th men on two-way contracts (Devontae Cacok and Kostas Antetokounmpo), to a guy that literally never played and technically isn’t even on the roster anymore (DeMarcus Cousins), to the stars that made it all possible (LeBron James and Anthony Davis).

They all made an impact, in some form or fashion, whether it was helping the team stay ready in practice or as a leader off the floor, or by carrying the team with their contributions on it. In some cases, they may have done both.

Not all of them will be back, however, but that doesn’t make this team any less worthy of celebrating. In fact, it arguably makes them more worth remembering before free agency and an insane offseason begin. The Lakers are going to be looking to repeat, and as they evaluate who to prioritize this summer and how to go about building the best roster for their title defense, we can do the same thing.

In our 2020 Lakers Season In Review series, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing, taking a look back at everyone who played for the team this year — except Troy Daniels. Sorry, Troy — and answering some questions about what they contributed (or didn’t) to the team’s 17th championship, as well as what their situation is moving forward.

Are they a free agent? Do we expect them back? What can the younger guys add to their game moving forward if they want to make a bigger impact next season? We’ll get into all of those questions and more, so bookmark this page and come back to it for daily updates, Monday-Friday, until we finish out our list.
