2020 NBA Mock Draft

0 21

With the 2020 NBA draft coming up soon I thought that we should discuss what team will take who and why

#1 pick: The Minnesota Timberwolves if you think about it are a pretty good team with D’Angelo Russell playing point-guard and Karl-Anthony Towns playing center, with Anthony Edwards coming into the draft as the number 1 prospect and as a shooting-guard it’s very likely that the Timberwolves will select him first.

#2 pick: The Golden State Warriors are in rebuild mode after losing Kevin Durant and Demarcus Cousins in free-agency, they have good players starting at each position except center. If they can draft James Wiseman to start at center then their lineup will be complete.

#3 pick: The Charlotte Hornets are in major rebuilding mode after losing Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics in free-agency, when their turn comes in the draft they’ll just take the next best player because they need someone to lead the franchise, so they’ll take LaMelo Ball.

#4 pick: The Chicago Bulls haven’t been that good of a team lately so they have been leaning on Zach Lavine for help and made him their new franchise player, the Bulls need some good shotting talent so they will draft Cole Anthony to play with Zach Lavine at the point-guard position.

#5 pick: The Cleveland Cavaliers have Kevin Love and Andre Drummond at power-forward and center while Collin Sexton plays the shooting-guard, so they will probably take Obi Toppin who can play small-forward and make their team a little bit better.

#6 pick: The Atlanta Hawks have a good point-guard in Trae Young and a powerful backcourt duo with John Collins and Clint Capela. They need a good shooting-guard or small-forward so they will probably take Deni Avdija who can play small-forward.

#7 pick: The Detroit Pistons have a new young rising star in Christian Wood and Blake Griffin will probably play better next year at the power-forward position, so the Pistons will take Killian Hayes who can play as a combo guard, he is a good all-around player and he might be a good addition to the Pistons roster.

#8 pick: The New York Knicks have been terrible these past couple of years so they will probably take anyone who is next in line, they need someone to play with Mitchell Robinson in the backcourt so they will probably take Onyeka Okongwu who plays power-forward.

#9 pick: The Washington Wizards have point-guard John Wall who will be returning from injury next year and shooting-guard Bradley Beal who proved to be an amazing shooter last year, they also have new young star Rui Hachimura at power-forward which means that they need a good small-forward, they will probably take Isacc Okoro who is a little small for the small-forward position at 6’5 but he plays big such as Draymond Green who is 6’6 or Damian Lillard who is 6’2 but can jump very high and haul in a rebound easily.

#10 pick: The Phoenix Suns are a good team because they have Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, they will take Patrick Williams who plays the small and power forward positions with ease.

#11 pick: The San Antonio Spurs have and old center in LaMarcus Aldridge and a mediocre shooting-guard with DeMar DeRozan, they need a small-forward and they can do that if they draft Aaron Nesmith.

#12 pick: The Pelicans are a very good team with sharpshooter JJ Reddick and superstars Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, however they also have Lonzo Ball who is a mediocre player and Jrue Holiday who is an aging veteran. Next year the Pelicans could draft Tyrese Haliburton who plays the point-guard position. They could start him and put Lonzo Ball at shooting-guard, Lonzo is still very young and had lots of time for improvement, then they could put Jrue Holiday on the bench, and have some extra shooting talent with JJ Reddick.

#13 pick: The Sacramento Kings have De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield as the guards and they need a forward, they will probably draft Devin Vassell who stands 6’7 and is a shooting guard, but 6’7 is a bit big for a shooting-guard so they can put him at small-forward.

#14 pick: the Celtics were an amazing team last year, they have Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, and Daniel Theis. The only position they don’t have a good player at is shooting-guard, which is why they will take RJ Hampton who is a 6’5 shooting guard, they can start him and put Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart on the bench.

#15 pick: The Orlando Magic have Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier, and DJ Augustin. They need a good small-forward so they will take Precious Achiuwa.
