Mofor on preseason FCS All-America list
University at Albany running back Karl Mofor was selected to the Hero Sports preseason FCS All-America team, announced Thursday. UAlbany teammates Jeff Undercuffler, a quarterback, and Levin Methany, a linebacker, were selected to the second team.
Auto racing: Formula One's Dutch Grand Prix has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, after organizers chose on Thursday not to host it without spectators.
College basketball: Former Georgetown guard Mac McClung will play at Texas Tech after Davide Moretti's departure to play professionally at home in Italy. McClung has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Golf: The John Deere Classic has decided to cancel due to risks from the coronavirus pandemic.
MLB: At least nine franchises have told minor leaguers they'll provide allowances after the May 31 expiration of MLB's policy guaranteeing those players $400 per week. The Padres and Mariners promise payments through August; the Mets, Dodgers, White Sox, Rays, Rangers and Orioles through at least June. The Phillies also plan to continue allowances through June, but likely at a reduction from the $400 per week rate. The A's will suspend pay for all minor leaguers at the end of the month.
NFL: Commissioner Roger Goodell hopes coaches will be able to return to their team facilities by next week. Ticket offices, retail shops and other "customer-facing facilities" that comply with state and local regulation can open, with employees counting in the current maximum number of employees (no more than 50 percent of staff not to exceed 75 people) allowed. ...
