[Men's Basketball] Coffey earns MSC Player of the Year

For the second straight season, third in coach Chris Briggs' era, Georgetown College men's basketball enters Mid-South Conference tournament as the top seed. The Tigers (27-2) learned their first round opponent when Life University edged out Cumberland University in the eight-nine game Thursday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ky.

Those two will open up men's action 2 pm ET Saturday at Bowling Green High School. However, before it all gets going the teams sat down to celebrate the year.

The Tigers held the NAIA top ranking for most of the season and put together 22 straight wins, 32 dating back to the previous season. The core seniors of Eljay Cowherd, Chris Coffey and Jacob Conway have become one of the best, if not the best, trio to come through Georgetown. They each eclipsed 1,000 points and are steadily climbing. Coffey is moving up the list in career rebounds and is third in blocks. Cowherd broke the men's assist record and is a few games from breaking the school record as well as being Top 10 in steals.
