CIF postpones Menlo girls basketball playoff game after Menlo’s coronavirus shutdown
ATHERTON — Menlo School’s girls basketball playoff game at Bishop O’Dowd has been moved from Thursday night to Friday in the aftermath of Menlo’s coronavirus shutdown.
The California Interscholastic Federation made the announcement Thursday, one day after the governing body said it was considering a postponement to “allow for further consultation with the affected schools, review of guidelines issued by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the California Department of Health (CDPH), and additional evaluation by medical personnel.”
Menlo notified its school community Tuesday night that its campus would be closed for the rest of the week to undergo a deep cleaning after a staff member had contact with a relative who tested positive for coronavirus.
“I’d like to think that we’re being overly cautious,” Menlo athletic director Earl Koberlein said Wednesday. “There’s been nobody on campus that shows signs or has been tested positive.”
