Girls basketball rankings: Bay Area Preps HQ Top 25

0 14

After a brief hiatus, our Bay Area Preps HQ staff reconvened to reassess these rankings following the section playoffs.

The previous pair of weeks reaffirmed Archbishop Mitty is not only our unanimous No. 1 team but also the top seed in the NorCal Open Division bracket according to the California Interscholastic Federation selection committee.

The North Coast Section rounded out the rest of the top five — NCS Open Division champion St. Joseph Notre Dame, runner-up Cardinal Newman, plus semifinalists Salesian and Bishop O’Dowd.

Meanwhile, back-to-back CIF Open Division state runner-up Pinewood, which now finds itself as a No. 5 seed in the Division I bracket, must avenge losses to Miramonte and Salesian this week if it expects another shot at a state title.

As always, votes were cast by the Bay Area Preps HQ’s staff, with first-place votes worth 25 points, second-place 24 points and on down the line.
